Component 2 - Prepare Questions for an Interview

Print out the pre-interview questionnaire and give or mail to your interviewee. Ask them to fill it out before the day of the interview. This might also be done during Component 1 if preferred.

Prepare a list of open-ended questions that you can use during your interview. Use these websites to view examples and tips about the types of questions usually asked during an oral history interview. NOTE: These sites may not have any questions that relate directly to World War II, but can be used as a model for the types of questions that you make on your own:

Library of Congress "Guidelines for Oral History Interviews"

Turn in the following items to your teacher:

  • the completed pre-interview questionnaire
  • your list of proposed interview questions
  • completed rubric for this component
