This webquest is suitable for use with high school American history students. It could also be used with modifications with 6th through 8th grade students of history. In addition to history, this webquest also integrates language arts.

Prior to beginning this webquest, students should have learned the following skills:

• how to use the Internet to research an historical concept
• how to pose questions that will require more than a "yes/no" answer
• written composition with conventional mechanics and spelling
