Component 6 - Research and write a script

Now that the interview is over, it is time to produce a product from all of that work. Your product will be a script for a documentary, telling the story of your interviewee's life during World War II.

  1. Research any areas which were brought up during the interview for which you need additional background information. Be sure to note your source information for your bibliography.
  2. Write a simple narration that tells your story from start to finish, including all details and quotes from the interview. You'll use this as the basis for your script.
  3. Use the following links to view documentary scripts online. Pick one and use as a model to help you write your own script (both require MS Word 97 or later):

Script for: "RED FILES: Secret Victories of the KGB"
from PBS

2-Column Template for Documentary Scriptwriting
from Chicago Media Works

Turn in the following to your teacher:

    • Research notes
    • Narration
    • Completed script
    • Bibliography
    • Completed rubric for this component

Teacher Considerations:

Select the best 1 or 2 scripts from all scripts completed by your students. Please do not submit more than 2 scripts per school per year. Complete the Script Submittal Form and mail it along with the script and all signed releases to:
